K-9 Vago – New York(Badge On My Collar)


He was a born New Yorker, strong, brash and independent with a bravado normally seen in a dog far beyond his tender age. The son of K-9 Lago, a strong Schutzund III dog that was bred to produce fight drive, the little pup was bought sight unseen by Lt. Chris Bracco of the Binghamton Police Department, who trained dogs with the non-profit Southern Tier Police Canine Association in New York.



 Like a shot, the subject took off running up the street with John following closely behind. Chris bolted from the car, called Vago out and went around the car to the sidewalk. Vago was eager to join the chase and galloped up the street passing John as both turned right and ran onto the sidewalk of a bridge. Chris looked ahead watching the chase under the white glow of the bridge’s long line of illuminating streetlights. The dog and suspect ran about thirty yards on the sidewalk of the bridge when the man reached for the top of a five-foot barrier wall that ran the length of the bridge. To Chris’s amazement, he leapt over it disappearing into the night with the dog following right behind him.
